No hot water, water that never gets warm enough, or strange noises from the tank — a failing water heater disrupts everything from showers to dishes. At Kenowa Plumbing, we provide fast, reliable water heater repair in Belmont, MI for both gas and electric units. We'll diagnose the real problem, give you an honest repair-or-replace recommendation, and restore your hot water as quickly as possible, often the same day.
Common Water Heater Problems We Fix in Belmont, MI
Most water heater issues trace back to a handful of components. We repair all of these and more:
No Hot Water
On gas units, this often points to a pilot light, thermocouple, or gas valve issue; on electric units, it’s usually a failed heating element or thermostat. We pinpoint the cause and get the heat back on.
Not Enough Hot Water
If you’re running out faster than you used to, the issue may be a failing element, sediment buildup, or a thermostat that’s set too low. We restore full capacity so your showers stay hot.
Rumbling or Popping Noises
These sounds usually mean sediment has built up at the bottom of the tank, making it work harder and wear out faster. We flush the tank and address the buildup before it shortens the heater’s life.
Leaking Water Heater
Leaks can come from a valve, a fitting, or the tank itself. We identify the source and let you know whether it’s a straightforward repair or a sign the tank is failing.
Discolored or Smelly Hot Water
Rusty water or a rotten-egg odor often points to a corroding tank or a worn anode rod. We diagnose it and recommend the right fix.
Signs Your Water Heater Needs Repair
No hot water or water that won’t get hot enough
Hot water runs out faster than it used to
Rumbling, popping, or banging from the tank
Water pooling around the base of the unit
Rusty, discolored, or foul-smelling hot water
The pilot light won’t stay lit (gas units)
Water Heater Repair vs. Replacement: Which Makes Sense?
A repair is usually the right call when your water heater is relatively young and the problem is an isolated part like a heating element, thermostat, or thermocouple. Replacement becomes the smarter investment when the tank itself is leaking, the unit is more than 10–12 years old, or repair costs are creeping toward the price of a new heater. When you call Kenowa Plumbing, we give you a straight assessment based on the unit’s age and condition — not on what costs the most.

Kenowa Plumbing did a great job. They were able to install a gas line for me to the grill without going along the outside of the whole house. Super happy with the work and how fast they were able to get the job done!

Josh runs a tight ship. They step up to honor commitments and follow through with quality work at a fair price they installed a macerator pump toilet system on one visit and ran some packs of copper lines to a map sink on the first visit I like the idea of supporting new businesses, especially ones that have strong work ethic and professionalism

They were very prompt including when they were on the way! Andy recommend and fixed my hot water heater rather than trying to sell me a new one! I will definitely call them if needed for any plumbing needs in the future and highly recommend them! Josh & Andy were terrific explaining exactly what they did!
